TELL CHRIS CHRISTIE: THANKS!

Our governor-elect made a campaign promise to support vaccination choice. He stood with us pre-election. And he stands with us now as the next governor of New Jersey.

Everyone is buzzing with the news.

I need your help.

Please join us in writing Chris to express our gratitude. For this to work, we all need to write. You do not need to be from New Jersey to say thank you. He needs to receive the following messages:

  1. Our community is large.

  2. We are paying attention.

  3. We look forward to his leadership.

  4. We feel hopeful.

  5. What happens in New Jersey on this issue matters to the rest of the country.

  6. We want him to keep in touch with us and tell us his plans.

  7. We will hold him to his promise.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD YOU WRITE?

Clearly write your full name, mailing address. Date and sign your letter.

If any of the following statements is true, please include them in your note.

  • You voted for him because of his position on this issue.

  • You are the parent, grandparent, relative or friend of a child with a vaccine-injury or a diagnosis of autism or another chronic, autoimmune, neurological disorder that is behavioral, developmental or biochemical in origin. Specify the diagnoses and whether you believe they are vaccine-related.

  • You are grateful to him for his courageous on-the-record decision to support us during his campaign. Offer a short statement why or how this issue affects you personally.

  • You were moved by his radio interview with Don Imus. He sounded more like a parent who can relate to the experience of other parents, and less like a politician merely pandering for votes.

  • You want to learn more about how he plans to make this issue one of his Administration's top priorities. If you would like to highlight specific ways that you would like the Governor-elect to demonstrate his sincerity, please include them. Possible examples:

    1. His pick for Health Commissioner (thank him because he has told us we will have input!)

    2. His plans for engaging the legislature in a discussion of the issues and concerns related to vaccination choice (i.e., public roundtable discussion),

    3. How he plans to give parents a "seat at the table."

DO IT NOW

Write the letter now. If you wait, you probably won't do it.

He needs to hear from us... now.

Ask your friends and family to do the same.

If we want to hear back from him, we must keep in touch.

Hundreds of you wrote me and asked, "Will he do it? Will he really support us?" Don't ask me. Ask him. He needs to know you are out there.

CHRIS CHRISTIE'S CONTACT INFORMATION (revised)

The mailing address is:

The Honorable Chris Christie
Governor-Elect, State of New Jersey
20 West State Street, P.O. Box 22, Trenton, NJ 08625-0022

The e-mail address is to Mark Braden, Deputy Director of the Transition:

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

If you can handwrite or type and sign a personal letter and send it via snail mail, that will have the most impact. I've been repeatedly told that one handwritten letter is easily worth a handful of e-mails, hands down.

If you know you just won't send the snail mail, just go ahead and send the email.

DON'T FORGET TO COPY ME: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . I am going to keep track, too. We now have over 20,000 people on our list. I would like Chris Christie to receive at least 20,000 letters. We can do this.

SOME ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS

  1. If you are upset that I endorsed a political candidate, please read my latest blog post and comment. This is a topic worth discussing.

  2. If you don't want to share your opinions and thoughts publicly, use the Contact Us page or just send me an e-mail.

  3. If you want to better understand the goals and objectives of Life Health Choices, read the message from the founder and donate pages on my site.

  4. If you live in a state that has a gubernatorial race in 2010 and does not have vaccination choice, please get in touch with me.

  5. If you have access to relationships or resources that can help us do this work, please me know. We're gearing up for big plans next year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I'm feeling more hopeful today than I did two weeks ago. Let's work together to convert that hope into something more concrete and tangible. This time next year, we want to add vaccination choice to the long list of reasons why we're grateful.
