How Much Longer?

Today, 09-09-09, the National Autism Association is launching a campaign to appeal to officials and the mainstream public to pay careful attention to the autism epidemic. How Much Longer?

We are inundated with information. How can we survive if we don't ruthlessly edit? If you are not touched by autism yet, I know it is tempting to slide right by.

Don't. Please.

For decades, autism affected 4 to 5 in 10,000
Twenty years ago, autism affected 1 in 166
Two years ago, autism affected 1 in 150
Today, autism affects 1 in 100.

Something is very, very wrong.

Care enough to ask, how much longer will we wait for answers, for a cure, for vaccine safety testing, for services for our kids, for protection from abuse... for all the things that should be and just aren't.

I invite you to join thousands of parents and participate today in sending messages to the White House, the FDA, the CDC, the National Institutes of Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Department of Education, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and all of America.

FEATURED IMMUNE SUPPORT INGREDIENT: VITAMIN D3

Yep, vitamin D3. You probably know of it as the "sunshine vitamin," because the body produces it after exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. Most of us have heard that vitamin D3 promotes the absorption of calcium, for healthy development of teeth and bones. But you may not know that it also plays an important role in innate immune response and Th1 inflammation, possesses anticancer effects, and provides the skin with protection from harmful microbes.

Even if you spend lots of time outdoors, ask your doctor if you might still need vitamin D3 supplementation and if testing is warranted. Many of us, including but not limited to adults and children with chronic and autoimmune conditions, may require higher levels of the vitamin than the government's RDA guidelines.
