Piece of cake. Grain of salt. Gravy train. Nutty as a fruitcake. Bad egg. Big cheese. Couch potato. Cool as a cucumber. Out to lunch. Eat crow. In a nutshell. Half-baked. Humble pie. Egg on your face. Spill the beans. Hit the sauce. Sell like hotcakes. Cream of the crop. Cry over spilled milk. Salt away funds. Food is important. We talk about it all the time. Even when we aren't really talking about food. We know when we’re hungry. We know what tastes good. We know what we’re craving. We know the difference between home cooked and restaurant fare. Gourmand or gourmet, food is fun. As consumers, we are constantly faced with Food Choices. We make them consciously as we consult our cookbooks and prepare grocery lists. We make them subconsciously, in response to habits, emotional needs, hectic schedules. What, how and where we choose to eat matters. Did you know that some people don’t go to grocery stores? They belong to CSAs, food co-ops and buying groups. They have large vegetable gardens in their backyards. They "cow-pool" and band together to buy cheap, grass-fed meat directly from farmers.
You want to nourish yourself and your families. Food companies want to make money. You may find that your interests are not being met. The business of food is big business. Start here and learn why you should care about your Food Choices. |

| Quote of the week |
"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." - Robert F. Kennedy (1925-1968) |
